New Year's Resolutions are like traveling in a strange city with or without a map. With the map, I usually find where I am supposed to be in the least amount of time and hassle. Without a map, that is, relying on stopping for directions or just "feeling my way" until I happen on the location is a poor use of my time and usually creates a hassle. The real-deal focus for the best New Year's resolutions has to do with best use of time. Since time is a non-renewable resource, I value it highly. The following perfect resolutions are swifter-higher-stronger because they are about time, that is, the entire progression of a lifetime renewed each year:
- Vote in every election and not as a Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Conservative, etc. but as an American who cherishes freedom and is grateful to those who sacrificed and are always sacrificing that I might continue to live in a free country that allows each of us to choose to live in the plan for our lives that will not harm us, that will prosper us and give us hope and a future.
- Keep constantly aware of others around me, never consider any acquaintance an accident or a chance meeting. Everything has a reason. (This resolution keeps me particularly sane.)
- Make progress in making tomorrow's dream today's direction. The size of the steps toward tomorrow's dream are not the issue; the issue is that I don't lose sight of the purpose I was uniquely designed to live out on earth.
